Are your tours suitable for families with children?

Absolutely! We welcome families with children have many options available that cater to children of all ages. Additionally, we take safety very seriously so you can rest assured that your children will have a great time while learning and exploring new places.

What is the weather like in Lake Atitlan?

The temperature is fairly consistent throughout the year. 70’s and sunny during the day, 60’s at night. During the wet season, it rains mostly in the afternoons. There is a general lake breeze. We advise bringing a few warmer layers for chilly evenings.

What is the currency in Guatemala?

The Guatemalan currency is the Quetzal. Most places will not take any other form of currency. You can use the ATM’s at the airport, in Antigua or Panajachel. Most banks will not exchange foreign currencies.  Credit Cards are accepted at most hotels, hostels, restaurants, and tour companies.

Is the terrain easy to walk?

Roads and paths in Guatemala can be challenging to scale. Many streets are cobblestone or steep inclines. Factor in 5000 foot / 1600 meter elevation above sea level and most exercise will leave you short of breath.

How do I get to Los Elementos Adventure Center?

Los Elementos is located in Santa Cruz la Laguna on Lake Atitlan. If you’re staying in another village, you will need to take a water taxi to the Adventure Center. Most captains will agree to drop you off at our dock. Alternately, from the Santa Cruz dock, you will make a left/west on a dirt path and follow it for about 10 minutes until you reach our property.

Is Lake Atitlan safe to visit?

Guatemala is a safe country to visit. Like anywhere, there are areas with higher threats than others. Lake Atitlan and Antigua are both extremely safe destinations for visitors. Be aware of your surroundings and be smart!

How do you get to Lake Atitlan?

You can get to Lake Atitlan by shared shuttle, cab or private driver. We can arrange your travel for you, simply contact us at kayakguatemala@gmail.com with the required dates and number of people.

How far is Lake Atitlan from Guatemala City?

Without traffic, the drive to Panajachel, Lake Atitlan is about 3 hours.

Can I pay with a Credit Card?

Yes, we accept credit cards and GTQ.

How do I rent a kayak or paddleboard?

You can reserve a kayak or paddleboard here, or just show up to Los Elementos Adventure Center. We have plenty of kayaks and paddleboards. Availability is not guaranteed unless a reservation is made in advance.

Can I leave my belongings somewhere safe whilst on a tour?

For tours that begin and end at Los Elements Adventure, which includes all Kayak and Paddleboard tours, you are welcome to leave your belongings at our property for safekeeping.

Are there English speaking guides available?

Spanish is primarily spoken in Guatemala. Our tour guides are fluent in English and Spanish. You can learn more about our team here.

What type of shoes do you recommend for hiking in Lake Atitlan?

We would recommend broken-in trail shoes, boots, or sneakers for your hikes around Lake Atitlan.

What is your cancellation policy?

You may cancel your tour/activity 24 hours prior for a full refund. For cancellations in less than 24 hours, unfortunately, we cannot offer a refund.

What should I bring for my adventure?

Sun protection is important! Sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses and water.
